Overview
This game idea is inspired by Mini Motorways & rymdkapsel. The simplistic, minimalist style of these two games is what I would like to replicate in a city builder game.

Think of the game as a factory building game with a city simulation layer on top. Instead of conveyer belts, roads and vehicles are used. And instead of automated machines, you need a population who is skilled and happy enough to work. You need homes and services for your population as you build out your cities resource extraction manufacturing.
The games logistics chain would look like this:
Resources -> Extractor -> Factory -> Business -> Home
Resources
- Spawn randomly around the map.
Stone,Sand,Ore,Oil,Wood,Water.- Lower tiered resources build into higher tiered resources.
WaterandEnergyresources need to be piped.
See a quick Claude mock-up of a resource tree here!
Extractors
- Cheap to build.
- Specialized buildings that can extract specific resources from the map.
Factories
- Transforms basic resources into products.
- Requires energy, water, and employees to operate.
- Some factories require higher levels of education to operate.
- Power plants are considered factories and produce
energy.
Businesses
- Sells products.
- Requires
energy, water, and an employee to operate.
Homes
- Houses residences.
- Requires
energyandwaterto be livable.
Citizens
- Needs a home to live in.
- Needs a job to produce income.
- Needs education to work harder jobs.
- Will purchase needs or wants from businesses.
Vehicles
- Cars - Transports citizens.
- Semi’s - Transports resources or products.
